Coaches
Daniel Ward - Senior Men's Coach
In a career that includes 136 AFL games for Melbourne, Daniel has coached our Men's Senior Eighteen since 2017. He immediately led the team to that year's C-Grade Premiership and then showed resilience post-Covid to guide the side to B-Grade Premierships in 2022 and 2024. Our longest serving Senior Coach, he demonstrates great values in and around the club and teaches our players much more than on-field football skills and strategies. His work in developing a young team has paid off and knowing that we defeated 6 different teams in A-Grade in 2023 as well as having an outstanding season in B-Grade last year gives confidence for our return to A-Grade in 2025.
David Lappage - Senior Women's Coach
David came on board as coach of our Women's team in 2024. Having previously coached the OHAFC Under 19's from 2007-2009, the Senior Men in 2010-2011 and the school First XVIII from 2012-2019, he is looking forward to coaching senior girls for another year. A teacher at the school and having coached the Girl's 2nds over the past two years, he is already making an impact in enticing past students down to the club to continue playing football and representing the mighty Hearts.
David Connell - Senior Men's Development Team (Reserves) Coach
David is an OHAFC Life Member having played 197 games. He is a former club captain, triple Premiership player, dual Best and Fairest winner, member of the Team of the Century and represented the VAFA on multiple occasions. David is a passionate supporter of the OHAFC and having been involved with the team for such a long stint is very excited to lead the new generation of club newcomers. Finalists with the Under-19s in 2023 and 2024, David will be doing his utmost to develop this group of players further in 2025.
Anthony Wright - Under 19's Coach
Anthony Wright brings a natural talent and a strong commitment to developing young players at all levels. A former OHAFC player, Wrighty's deep connection to the club, having started his football journey in our U19 program, gives him a unique understanding of the vital role U19 coaches play in nurturing the future of our club and embedding players in our culture. A teacher by profession, Wrighty possesses the perfect attributes to guide and mentor our young men.
